Azma Bukhari files Rs 84 million defamation case agaisnt opposition leeader in PA

Information Minister Punjab Azma Bukhari has filed defamation case against opposition leader in Punjab Assembly (PA) Moeenuddin Riaz Qureshi .
As per media report the defamation case has been filed under Punjab Defamation Act -2024.
Azma Bokhari has filed claim of damage of Rs 84 million against Moeenuddin Riaz Qureshi.
Video, screen recording and transcripts have been filed in the court as evidence in the case. The details of the general, punitive and special damage sought from the defendant have been included in the petition.
The case follows statements made by Qureshi on a private TV programme, alleging that 150–200 “paid individuals” were being brought into the assembly on her behalf.
Azma has termed these allegations baseless and fabricated, noting that the remarks were broadcast on television and widely shared on social media, reaching millions of viewers.
Azma said Millions of people have watched it. The statement printed on PTI official account and telecast in Private Tv talk show is defamatory. It has caused enormous damage to her repute.
It has been further said in the petition that the allegation manifests ill intent, malice and irresponsible attitude.
Uzma Bokhari decided to initiate legal proceedings on the statement given in a program of private TV channel.
The case has been filed in Defamation Tribunal (DT) Lahore.
The information Minister Punjab has requested the court to order the defendant to pay compensation and court’s expenses.
