Federal Minister for Water Resources Syed Khursheed Shah said Friday that country was divided into two parts when “injustice was covered with lies”, it emerged.
Talking to the students of Islamia University Bahawalpur’s media department, Khursheed said social media has attained a prominent role in the field of journalism. “However, we have no boundaries and limitations in this regard,” he added.
Answering a question from students, the minister urged students to dig out the fact “either guns or pens and law could transform societies”.
Stressing the need to counter propaganda, the minister gave example of Hitler. “Hitler ruled Germany with help of extended rhetoric and propaganda, and then wrecked his own country,” he said. Fighting propaganda and false news was media’s main responsibility, he maintained.
“We did injustice with them [people of Bangladesh], and then covered it with lies and propaganda. As a result, Bangladesh was formed,” he said.
