Bannu region wins inter-regional schools cricket tournament

The Inter-Regional Schools Cricket Tournament under the auspices of the Directorate General of Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has concluded. In the final, Bannu Region defeated Malakand Region by 26 runs and clinched the trophy.
On this occasion, Director Operation Niamatullah Marwat distributed prizes among the players. Deputy Director Operation Sports Jamshed Baloch, Regional Sports Officer Malakand Region Tariq Muhammad, Regional Sports Officer Mardan Muhammad Salman, Regional Sports Officer Bannu Shafqatullah, DSO Bannu Adil Shah, DSO Bajaur Tajir Wazir, and other were also present.
The final of the Inter-Regional Schools Cricket Tournament held at Shama Cricket Ground played between Malakand Region and Bannu Region, in which Bannu Region won the toss and batted first and scored 149 runs in the stipulated overs, Muhammad Javed scored 58 runs and Abdul Samad scored 38 runs.
In reply, the Malakand region team was bowled out for 123 runs. Bilal Ahmed scored 28 runs, Halal Ahmed 25 runs, and Hamza Khan scored 26 runs.
The tournament was organized on the special instructions of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Gandapur, Provincial Minister for Sports Syed Fakhar Jahan, Secretary Sports Matiullah Khan and DG Sports Abdul Nasir.
In the first round, inter-school competitions were held at the district level, in the second round, inter-district schools competitions were held at the regional level, while in the last round, the winning teams of all the regions competed in Peshawar. The winning two teams will represent KP inNational Cricket Championship under the auspices of the Pakistan Cricket Board.
This was an important effort to bring out natural talent from grassroots level. It is hoped that new talented players will emerge through this event who will make the country and the province proud in the future. Earlier, in the first semi-final, Malakand defeated Peshawar Regional while Bannu defeated Mardan Region and had qualified for the final.
