Advisor to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Information and Public Relations, Barrister Dr. Saif, has criticized the federal government for its inaction in tackling the growing threat of terrorism, accusing it of negligence and a lack of strategic response.
In a statement, Barrister Saif said the country is engulfed in terrorism, while the federal government has failed to adopt effective diplomatic measures or formulate a comprehensive internal strategy. He alleged that Islamabad continues to hold Afghanistan responsible for terrorist activities but has made no serious effort to engage in diplomatic talks.
“There has been no response to the Terms of Reference (TORs) sent for negotiations with Afghanistan. The federal government is neither initiating dialogue with Kabul nor allowing Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to do so,” he stated, emphasizing the need for engagement to curb terrorism.
Barrister Saif also condemned Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s approach, calling him a passive spectator in the face of escalating violence. He asserted that the federal government is not taking the security situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan seriously.
He urged the federal authorities to acknowledge that Pakistan is not just Punjab and warned that if immediate and effective measures are not taken, the wave of terrorism could spread to Punjab and Sindh as well.
