A Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) official was martyred in an improvised explosive device (IED) explosion while attempting to defuse the device in the limits of Hassan Khel Police Station here on Tuesday. According to police, BDS official Khaista Rehman was neutralizing a suspected IED when it exploded, killing him on the spot. Following the incident, a heavy police contingent reached the site, cordoned off the area, collected evidence and launched an investigation. Police officials said investigations are underway to determine the nature of the explosion and identify those responsible for planting the IED.
A search operation has also been launched in the surrounding area.
