Chairman of the District Development Committee and MPA Sher Ali Afridi affirmed that the development and beautification of Peshawar was a top priority, and that all available resources will be utilized to make Peshawar a cleaner, greener city.
He also announced plans for an action strategy to address Peshawar’s chaotic traffic situation.
Presiding over an introductory meeting that included officials from the Wildlife, Environment Protection, Traffic Police, Sports, and Transport departments, Chairman Afridi emphasized the need for a well-coordinated approach.
DSP Traffic Faqir Hussain provided an in-depth briefing on traffic control strategies, and Afridi directed that an actionable traffic management plan be developed.
He further instructed traffic police officers to prioritize respectful engagement with the public, ensuring that fines are imposed fairly and only when warranted.
Afridi also recommended a streamlined process for license issuance, where applicants move independently through the counters without external assistance, with thorough checks to ensure compliance.
Addressing the food department, Afridi underscored the importance of adhering to regulated pricing to protect consumers, requesting a comprehensive report on any fines levied.
The sports department briefed the chairman on public facilities, for which he requested detailed updates on progress and future plans.
