Ashfaq Khan Bettani, an independent candidate from Tribal Sub-Division Bettani, Saturday accused the Returning Officer Sub-Division Bettani of depriving him of tehsil mayoral fraudulantly. Addressing a press conference, he said that Returning Officer Sub-Division Bettani had taken a hostile attitude towards him from the first day.
“All the votes at my native polling station belong to my own tribe where I secured 1163 votes while the rival candidates got more than 100 votes”, he maintained.
He said that now the Returning Officer, along with the rival candidate, recounted himself and despite being a successful chairman, he was not included in it and surprisingly his votes were reduced from 1419 to 320.
He alleged that the opposing candidate Anwar Badshah of JUI had been declared as a winner candidate with a total of 1021 votes.
Ashfaq Khan Bettani demanded Prime Minister Imran Khan, Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mehmood Khan, Election Commission of Pakistan and District Returning Officer Lakki Marwat to release correct result within two days, or else they would be forced to take next step.
