Like elsewhere in the world, Christmas was observed religiously by the Christmas community here on Saturday.
In this connection a gathering was organized in Christian colony Landi Kotal that was attended by the Commandant Khyber Riles Col Rizwan Nazir as chief guest beside Member Provincial Assembly Wilson Wazir, elders and a number of Christian community member including children and women made ensure their presence in the moot.
The chief guest cut the Christmas cake and greeted the Chrisitan of the day.
Addressing on the occasion Col Rizwan Nazir said that similar to other parts of the world, the minority enjoyed their basic rights in Pakistan and all initiatives will be utilized to safeguard their privileges.
Issues being faced by the Christian community in cantonment and other localities will be addressed on priority basis, he assured.
He granted 0.1 million rupees in cash to the Christians.
MPA Wilson Wazir in his speech thanked the chief guest and other invitees for attending the Christmas celebration.
