A bid of smuggling of arms from Afghanistan to Pakistan was foiled by the custom department here at Torkham Border last day.
According to Additional Custom Collector Muhammad Tayyab on tip off, the custom officials stopped an Afghanistan returned empty trailer bearing registration no.KBL-3257 at National logistic Cell (NLC) import terminal for general checking.
During search the custom officials recovered 03 Russian brand RK-47, 02 American made M-4 machine guns, 01 binocular utilize in sniper gun, hidden in various cavities in the truck, he added.
Thousands of different kinds of bullets were also recovered during the search.
The seized items and the vehicles were taken into legal custody however the driver took advantage of the rush and fled from the site and efforts were initiated to arrest him, the official informed.
Security further beefed up at the Pak-Afghan sharing Border and the custom official vowed that all necessary measures will be adopted to ensure the safety of the country.
