Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) Chairperson Senator Rubina Khalid on Monday visited a registration point in Bara, Khyber tribal district, where she met internally displaced persons (IDPs) and deserving women from Tirah and reviewed the ongoing registration process.
During the visit, the chairperson inspected registration being carried out through a mobile registration van and interacted directly with women beneficiaries. She directed the staff to immediately address complaints raised by women and emphasised the need for providing complete guidance to applicants during the registration process.
Director General BISP KP Alif Jan Afridi and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) District Khyber President Sher Shah Afridi were also present on the occasion.
Speaking to the media, Senator Rubina Khalid said that ensuring registration of deserving women with dignity and respect was her top priority. She said BISP was playing a key role in the economic empowerment of women and it would ensure that no deserving woman was deprived of financial assistance.
She added that the registration process had been made transparent, easy and swift to facilitate uninterrupted services for beneficiaries, and assured that women would be guided at every stage of the process.
The BISP chairperson said the programme was a practical example of public service, adding that the rehabilitation and support of IDPs was the responsibility of the government. She assured that the people of Khyber would not be left alone and that all possible steps would be taken for their welfare.
