Bitcoin falls below $43,000 as retracement continues

ISLAMABAD: The cryptocurrency market remained mixed on Sunday, with the market capitalization gaining 0.2 percent to reach $1.77 trillion. As of 0900 hours GMT, the price of Bitcoin, the world’s oldest and most valued cryptocurrency, dipped to $42,935 with a decrease of 0.6 percent in the last 24 hours. The market capitalization of the biggest crypto has reached $841 billion with this decrease. Bitcoin has been 2.6 percent up in the past seven days. Before this current wave of profit-taking, Bitcoin peaked at $49,000 – a level unseen since December 2021 – only to experience a retracement that wiped out all gained momentum. Currently, Bitcoin consolidates around the $43,000 level, propelled by widespread liquidation of short positions across the market. Optimism prevailed following the recent launch of spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs). On the other hand, Ether (ETH), the world’s second-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization, slipped by 0.4 percent to reach $2,546. With this decrease in price, the market capitalization of ETH has reached $305.8 billion. ETH has gained 13.2 percent of its value during the last seven days. However, Binance Coin (BNB) price increased by 1.2 percent to reach $304. The market capitalization of BNB has reached $46.7 billion with this increase. BNB has shed 1.7 percent of its value during the last seven days. Following suit, Solana price increased by 4.9 percent to reach $98. Similarly, the price of Ripple (XRP) inched down by 0.2 percent to reach $0.575. The market capitalization of XRP stands at $31.2 billion with this decrease. XRP has gained 0.9 percent of its value during the last seven days.
