Bulbul-e-Pakistan Nayyara Noor passes away at 71

KARACHI: Celebrated playback singer Nayyara Noor, also known as Bulbul-e-Pakistan, passed away in Karachi early Sunday. She was 71. She is survived by her husband, Sheharyar Zaidi, and two sons, Ali and Jaafer. Her funeral prayer was offered at Masjid/Imambargah Yasrab located in the city area of Defence. The singer will be laid to rest to at the Defence Phase-8 cemetery. The popular playback singer was one of the most melodious voices in the subcontinent and a class stage performer as she had sung in numerous live ghazal mehfils on Pakistani television. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif took to the twitter to express his condolences on the sad demise of Nayyara Noor. Nayyara Noor’s career spanned over several decades and was conferred with multiple national awards. She was conferred with the title of Bulbul-e-Pakistan alongside the Pride of Performance Award by the President of Pakistan in 2006. Noor was also honoured with the Nigar Award in 1973. DNA
