ECP says polling is scheduled for Nov 23

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has released the schedule for the by-election in NA-1, comprising Chitral Upper and Chitral Lower, along with the appointment of key officials. According to the notification, Regional Election Commissioner Ijaz Ahmed has been designated as the District Returning Officer (DRO), while Muhammad Iqbal, District Election Commissioner Chitral Lower, has been appointed as the Returning Officer (RO). Polling is scheduled for November 23, 2025.
The public notice will be issued by the RO on October 13, followed by the submission of nomination papers from October 15 to 17. The list of candidates who file nominations will be published on October 18, and scrutiny will continue until October 22.
Appeals against the acceptance or rejection of nomination papers can be filed up to October 27, and decisions on appeals will be made by November 3. The revised list of candidates will be published on November 4, while the final date for withdrawal of nominations and publication of the final list is November 5. Election symbols will be allotted on November 6, said a statement issued by the provincial spokesperson of the election watchdog. As per the ECP’s code of conduct, a ban has been imposed on the promotion and transfer of government employees in Chitral Upper and Chitral Lower districts during the election process.
