As 2021 drew to a close on Thursday, the Capital City Police issued their annual report of the breakdown of crimes, arrests and recoveries made by the department during the year.
The report highlighted that during the last one year police have arrested 4794 criminals. Police in the provincial capital busted 94 kidnappers, 45 on the charges abduction and 537 accused involved in murder.
The report pinpointed that a total of 159 gangs involved in robbery, burglary, theft were apprehended.
Police in various operations in Peshawar also arrested a total of 894 accused involved in robbery, dacoity, theft. More than 69 million cash, 230 mobile phones, 92 towels of gold jewelery were recovered, said the annual report .
Besides arrest of 365 accused involved in car and motorcycle snatchers , police cops also recovered 116 vehicles, 133 motorcycles recovered in crackdown on criminal elements Peshawar .
6607 accused involved in various crimes arrested, modern automatic weapons recovery also made part of the report. Police report says that 703 Kalashnikovs, 77 Kalashnikovs, 632 rifles, 583 shotguns, 7632 pistols recovered in operations against criminals in metropolitan.
During the operations, 179 hand grenades and more than 678,000 different bore cartridges were also recovered. The report data show that more than 14,000 drug suspects arrested and around 15 drug factory sealed in 2021.
It further said that around 500 kg ice, 4862 kg hashish, 956 kg heroin were seized and police have so far admitted 1,100 drug addicts to drug rehabilitation centers.
It is to note here that one thousand beds are being allocated for drug addicts for drug rehabilitation in collaboration with the provincial government.
Following the National Action Plan (NAP) in Peshawar Capital police took action against more than 15,000 people.
Police annual report 2021 highlighted that a special operation was launched against aerial firing and more than one and a half thousand accused were arrested.
This year Eid-ul-Fitr, Eid-ul-Adha, Muharram-ul-Haram, Chehlum, Cantonment Board elections, local body elections police performed security arrangements.
This year, 2632 police personnel were punished for negligence Peshawar, 76 personnel were dismissed.
Under the Peshawar Police Jirga campaign, 1390 successful jirgas were held and consent was obtained report added.
The report also shed lights over the reforms and it added that the department Introduced Police Station Record Management System, Human Resource System. Under the reforms agenda police department formed an Ababeel Squad, street squad and modern vehicles were provided to the investigating staff.
