Chairman PTI Imran Khan could not be indicted in contempt of Election Commission (EC) case on Thursday.
The interior ministry presented report in the court for not presenting Imran Khan in EC in contempt of EC case.
The contempt of EC cases against Imran Khan, Fawad Chaudhry and Asad Umar came up for hearing before 4-member commission presided over by member Sindh Nisar Durrani Thursday.
Asad Umar, Shoaib Shaheen and Faisal Chaudhry appeared before EC in these cases. Chairman PTI and Faisal Chaudhry were not presented.
Ministry of interior filed report in EC in this regard.
Member commission Nisar Durrani said during the hearing of the case that as per interior ministry the situation is not such that chairman PTI could be presented before EC. However trial can be conducted in jail.
Shoaib Shaheen counsel for chairman PTI requested for providing copy of interior ministry report saying good impression will not go in respect of case.
Commission head Nisar Durrani while directing to provide copy of report said leave the matter of impression . We will work as per law. You want to advance the case but you don’t cooperate. Shoaib Shaheen took the plea for not presenting deliberately.
Then member EC Shah Muhammad Jatoi remarked earlier you too were not presenting deliberately. The question is this why should we take risk of presenting him here.
Faisal Chaudhry told the EC about presence of Fawad Chaudhry in Adiala jail.
Asad Umar said I have appeared in the EC more than any one. Now I have quit politics too. Member Commission said no you should do politics.
Asad Umar while thanking him said he has now left the politics. The EC adjourned the hearing of case till December 06.
