Chief Khateeb KP urges Ulema to promote harmony in Muharram days

Chief Khateeb Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Maulana Muhammad Tayyab on Thursday called for sectarian harmony to maintain peaceful environment during Muharram days across the province.
Addressing ‘ Paigham Pakistan’ conference held at Peshawar Press Club, he urged the religious representatives of all sects for full cooperation with the provincial government in Muharram.
The conference was attended by famous religious scholars, representatives of all walks of life, social and political heads of different parties.
KP Chief Khateeb on this occasion stressed on scholars of all sects to plat their role in creating the atmosphere of brotherhood among the residents of Peshawar.
Ensure dignity and respect as enshrined in the Constitution of Pakistan, including equality before the law, social and political rights, freedom of expression, belief, worship and assembly, he added.
Maulana Muhammad Tayyab condemned the use of violence on the name of Islam and termed armed action against the state un-Islamic, adding that the aim of the conference was to spread awareness among the masses about the beauty of religion and peace.
“Religious scholars of the province should fully cooperate with the state and state institutions, especially law enforcement agencies, so that violence can be eradicated from the society,” he added.
He said that Islam does not allow anyone to create uncertainty and tarnish the peace of society.
Non-Muslim citizens of Pakistan have the right to practice their religion and religious rituals according to their religious beliefs, he added.
