KHYBER: Soon after the news of outbreak of cholera in Bacha Maina village of Torkham border viral, where a laborer identified as Haji Khan died from the disease a day earlier and several children, men, and women from different households were affected, the District Health Officer, Khyber dispatched a medical team to the area to tackle the situation. The District Khyber Health Department’s medical team, including Dr. Khalid Saleem and other staff members, along with Torkham Tehsildar Zaibullah Afridi and local elders. During the free medical camp, more than 200 men, women, and children were examined and provided with medicines by the health department’s doctors and staff. Meanwhile, the Public Health team collected water samples from Bacha Maina and sent it to a laboratory for testing. Officials said the public would be informed after the test results are received. Residents of the area appreciated the Health Department and the doctors’ team for the immediate response and for organizing the free medical camp and providing timely medical assistance.
