Civil society holds lamp vigil as Dr Aafia completes 8000 days of imprisonment

The daughter of the nation, Dr Aafia Siddiqui has completed the first 8000 days of her imprisonment and counting as the civil society held a vigil by lighting 8000 ‘’lamps of hope’’ in front of Dr Aafia residence in Gulshan e Iqbal here Saturday.
Leaders of different political and social organizations besides a large number of civil society volunteers attended the event.
Speaking on the occasion, Aafia Movement leader and noted Neurophysician of the country Dr Fowzia Siddiqui said it is shameful that the daughter of the nation is in solitary prison for 8000 days. She said that this shows the worth of common Pakistani citizens in the eyes of our rulers.
She regretted that the government of Pakistan has failed to take steps to get released its citizen from the US jail. He said this same government has already released American citizen Raymond Davis who had killed three Pakistanis.
She said that on the occasion of completing first 8000 days of Dr Aafia in prison we pledge to continue our struggle till her release.
