Iranian consulate visit

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi visited the Consulate General of Iran in Peshawar on Thursday to express condolences over the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.
During the visit, the chief minister met Iranian Consul General Ali Banafsheh Khah and conveyed sympathy on behalf of the people of Pakistan and the province, said an official statement.
Mr Afridi said the martyrdom of the Iranian Supreme Leader was not only a loss for the people of Iran but for the entire Muslim Ummah. He expressed solidarity with the Iranian nation, stating that the people of Pakistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa stood firmly with them during the difficult time and shared in their grief.
He said the Muslim world must face emerging challenges with unity and resolve, adding that the provincial government was ready to extend every possible support to Iran if needed, including the provision of medical professionals, medicines and nursing staff.
Members of the provincial cabinet, including Meena Khan Afridi, Aftab Alam, Fazal Shakoor, Shafi Ullah Jan and Muzammil Aslam, also accompanied the chief minister.
On the occasion, Mr Banafsheh Khah thanked the chief minister and members of his delegation for visiting the consulate and expressing solidarity with the Iranian nation.
He said the Iranian people were deeply saddened by the loss of their leader, describing him as a fatherly figure who had dedicated his life to the promotion of Islam and the unity of the Muslim Ummah.
The consul general said Iran did not initiate the conflict but would defend itself, adding that the Iranian nation would continue to stand firm in the face of challenges.
He further said the support and solidarity shown by the people of Pakistan and KP strengthened the Iranian nation during the difficult time.
