Caretaker Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Azam Khan was called on by newly posted US Consul General in Peshawar, Bante Moore here at Chief Minister’s House on Monday. The Chief Minister and US Consul General discussed at length matters of mutual interest, cooperation and collaboration among the provincial government and US donor agencies in different sectors.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Muhammad Azam Khan said that the caretaker government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa highly values the cooperation of US government and its donor agencies in various sectors of the province, and expressed the hope that US government would continue to extend its support to the province.
He further said that the newly merged districts required special attention and cooperation of friendly countries and donor agencies because these areas are lagging behind in development as compared to other areas due to decades old militancy in the region, and these areas require more attention especially in basic infrastructure development adding that police infrastructure in the merged districts needs substantial improvement in order to ensure law and order. The Chief Minister said that advancement of educational opportunities for females was also one of the top priorities of the provincial government.
The caretaker provincial government would welcome American cooperation in these fields and would extend all out support in this regard. Speaking on the occasion, the US Consul General said that US government would continue to support public welfare initiatives in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in collaboration with provincial government and public.
He further said that the US government is also desirous to work on the preservation of archeological sites, historical buildings and cultural heritage of the province.
