PESHAWAR
Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Saturday lauded the role of minorities, particularly the Christians, in the socio-economic development of the country and reiterated the provincial government is taking all possible steps to provide equal opportunities to all minorities in the province.
Mahmood Khan felicitated and wished Merry Christmas to the Christians in KP and all over the world celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ.
The Chief Minister said that minorities, especially the Christian community, have played an important role in the development of the country, which the entire nation values. He emphasized that the current national and international situation demands that inter-religious harmony be promoted at all levels.
The Chief Minister further said that the provincial government is taking concrete steps to protect the fundamental rights of all the minorities living in the province and ensure their religious freedom in every respect.
The process of providing monthly stipends to the religious leaders of the minority community has been initiated across the province, adding that the government has granted a five-year relaxation in the upper age limit of minorities for recruitment in government jobs, which will provide more opportunities to the youth of the minority community in government jobs.
