Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Sohail Afridi on Tuesday took notice of the killing of prominent religious scholar Maulana Muhammad Idrees in a firing incident in Charsadda, strongly condemning the attack. The chief minister sought a detailed report from police authorities regarding the incident and directed that all necessary steps be taken to bring those responsible to justice. Expressing deep sorrow over the martyrdom of Maulana Muhammad Idrees, he termed the incident highly regrettable and said that the government stands with the bereaved family in this difficult time.
“I was deeply saddened to hear the news of the martyrdom of Maulana Muhammad Idrees. The entire nation shares the grief of the affected family,” the chief minister said.
He also prayed for the elevation of the martyr’s rank and for patience for the family members.
The chief minister further directed authorities to ensure the provision of immediate and best possible medical facilities to the police personnel injured in the incident.
Reaffirming solidarity, he said that the provincial government and the entire nation stand united with the family in their hour of grief.
