Chairman, Amun Taraqqi Party (ATP) Muhammad Faiq Shah has said economy has shattered by incompetence of rulers so there is needed a comprehensive roadmap overcome with the current economic meltdown.
Shah while chairing a meeting of the party’s central executive committee here on Wednesday said a historic surge in internal and external debts was witnessing.
He said a default-like situation prevailed in the country.
The ATP chairman said economic statistics haven’t shown progressive and positive growth.
Exports, businesses, and trade are on a downward trajectory, he added.
He maintained businessmen, traders, and the poor segment of the society highly upset owing to current political and economic instability.
Faiq fired a broad sheet at present rulers and politicians, saying everything has been done for protection of personal interests and political survival.
He asked rulers to provide relief to inflation-stricken masses instead of hollow slogans and cosmetic steps.
He stressed that parliamentarians should hold a debate on public issues by calling a joint session of the both upper and lower houses of the parliament.
He furthermore called to make legislation in the best public interest and the country.
Earlier, ATP has announced to launch an organized public awareness campaign dubbed: ‘Only Pakistan and People’ under renewed pledge across the country.
He said a complete concept of democracy would be promoted through an organized and vigorous campaign.
Shah opined confrontation between government and judiciary is unfavorable while keeping in view the prevailing circumstances.
He continued to say that authorities and power are surrounded around a specific group and segment, which they are using for personal interests.
The party leader said the tendency has created growing division among the society, which would be detrimental and force people to rebel in the current scenario.
“We demand to remove intervention of wealth, pressure, rigging and politics-based on personality and individualism”,
In this regard, he said electoral reforms are imperative.
He said the government, and opposition should jointly design a holistic reforms agenda to pave the way for the election in the country.
The meeting was attended by the ATP central leaders Awais Khan, Mian Asif Mehmood Advocate, Nazakat Hussain Advocate and others.
