Commissioner Malakand orders quick repair of roads, bridges in flood-hit Chitral

Commissioner Malakand division Shahidullah Khan has said that all available resources would be utilized for the rehabilitation of flood victims in Upper Chitral district.
He directed the district administrations of Upper Chitral, officials of National Highway Authority (NHA) and Construction and Works (C&W) to take practical steps for rehabilitation of the damaged links roads and bridges in the district.
According to a handout, Commissioner Malakand chaired a meeting to review rehabilitation work after the floods and warned of stern action against officials for showing negligence, omission or obstruction in the rehabilitation works of the affected areas.
The meeting, which was held at the office of Upper Chitral, was briefed by the Deputy Commissioner Khalid Zaman Khan about the ongoing rehabilitation and relief works in the flood affected areas of the district.
Addressing the meeting, the Commissioner Officials of all departments were directed to complete the rehabilitation works related to their respective institutions on priority basis.
Later, Commissioner Malakand also visited the affected roads and appreciated the performance of the district administration of Upper Chitral and other concerned institutions for the entire rehabilitation.
He issued instructions to officials concerned to initiate work on rehabilitation of damaged roads and bridges and should be opened for traffic on an emergency basis or alternative roads should be constructed. He also directed the Deputy Commissioner to complete the assessment work in Upper Chitral as soon as possible so that the provincial government’s policy Compensation can be paid to the affected families in time.
