PESHAWAR: In a bid to tackle traffic congestion and improve traffic flow in the provincial capital, commissioner Peshawar Division Riaz Khan Mehsud has directed authorities to launch a massive operation against encroachments on Kohat Road and the Indus Highway. In a press statement, Commissioner Riaz Khan Mehsud has issued directives to the district administration, Peshawar Development Authority (PDA), traffic police, TMAs, and local police for a joint operation aimed at clearing these key areas. A meeting chaired by Riaz Mehsud identified seven major hotspots on the Kohat Road and Indus Highway where traffic jams were a persistent issue. The locations include Chungi Chowk, Bhanamani, Ghari Qamardin Pul, Kohat Adda, Saifan Chowk, Spin Jamat Chowk, Badh Bir Bazaar, and Matani Chowk. Commissioner Peshawar has instructed all concerned departments to immediately carry out a large-scale operation against encroachments in the aforementioned areas and ensure swift implementation.
