PESHAWAR: Commissioner Peshawar division Riaz Khan Mehsud on Monday met with a delegation from the Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry (WCCIP). The meeting discussed the economic empowerment of women entrepreneurs, institutional cooperation, and strengthening mutual relations. The delegation, including Women Chamber President Qurat-ul-Ain, Senior Vice President Zara Imtiaz, Former Vice President Zubaida Amir, Executive Member Lazidha Arbab, and members Seema Amjad and Asia, highlighted the Chamber’s role in promoting women-led businesses through training, capacity building, market access, and policy guidance. They emphasized the importance of self-employment, SMEs, cottage industries, and start-ups in boosting women’s economic participation. The delegation requested the appointment of a focal person in the Commissioner’s Office to improve communication and address challenges faced by women entrepreneurs. They also proposed establishing a joint committee to ensure long-term collaboration between the Chamber and the Commissioner’s Office. Plans for jointly organized exhibitions, markets, and promotional events were discussed to help women entrepreneurs access local and regional markets more effectively.
