Commissioner reviews Hazara Motorway restoration project in compliance with court order

An important meeting held here on Monday with Commissioner Hazara Division in the chair, reviewed restoration and repair of the Hazara Motorway in light of court order, a handout said.
The forum was informed by the General Manager of the National Highway Authority (NHA), CPEC Burhan regarding the ongoing repair works across various sections of the motorway.
He reported that repair activities are currently underway at five major locations, of which three have already been completed. The remaining two sites are being addressed on a fast-track basis.
Commissioner Fayaz Ali Shah emphasized the urgency of addressing residual issues such as road depressions, sinkholes, bumps, and potholes, all of which pose risks to public safety and travel comfort. He directed relevant authorities to carry out a thorough inspection of all affected areas, particularly the connecting stretches between Hazara Motorway and Peshawar Motorway, and to expedite repair work without delay.
Following the meeting, the Commissioner, along with the NHA General Manager, conducted a site visit to various sections of the motorway. On-site, he reiterated the need for adherence to quality standards, the elimination of road hazards, and the implementation of necessary safety measures to protect motorists during construction.
Commissioner Shah also stressed the importance of completing all repair works within the stipulated time frame and maintaining close coordination with the Motorway Police to ensure smooth operations. He further directed that the Motorway Police be empowered to inspect and take action against overloaded vehicles, which significantly contribute to road damage.
