Committee abolishes Brain Drain Allowance

MARDAN: The 5th meeting of the Finance and Planning Committee of Engineering University Mardan was held on Friday. Vice chancellor professor Dr. Shahid Khattak chaired the meeting. Prof. Dr. Imran Khan, Dean Faculty of Engineering and Computing, Muhammad Fayaz Khan, Deputy Secretary HED, Muhammad Abbas Khan Deputy Secretary Finance Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Dr. Murtaza Ali, Registrar, Engineer Sajjad Ahmed, Director Planning and Development and Dr. Muhammad Usman attended the meeting. Director Finance Dr. Murtaza Ali presented various recommendations to the committee in the meeting which was approved by the committee. ONLINE
The first agenda item in the meeting was Brain Drain Allowance which is given at 40% of the basic scale but after detailed discussion the recommendation to abolish Brain Drain Allowance was approved.
Apart from this, there was a reduction in the fuel quota for officers’ vehicles, which was discussed in detail keeping in mind the inflation and the committee approved the recommendation to reduce the fuel quota of the heads of various departments.
The recommendation of fee structure for undergraduate admissions for the year 2023-24 will also be approved in the Finance and Planning meeting. In addition to this, among other points, the minimum wage was set at 25,000, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Civil Servant Act 2022, the memorandum of understanding with the Higher Education Commission regarding increasing revenue and the points of reducing school subsidy were discussed in detail and recommendations will be approved. Ayesha Henna Farooq Deputy Director Budget from Higher Education Commission Islamabad participated online.
The participants of the meeting appreciated such initiatives and said that the university will grow by reducing expenses and the university budget will be saved from deficit.
