PESHAWAR
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Scrutiny Committee on Home and Tribal Affairs has directed quarters concerned to take effective steps for the release of funds related to travelling and dining allowances for police personnel performed duties to protect polio vaccinators in anti-polio campaigns across the province.
The meeting of the committee held here on Tuesday which was chaired by female lawmaker of PPP Nighat Yasmin Orkazai and attended by its members including Additional Secretary Health, Deputy Secretary Home and Tribal Affairs Department, DIG Finance Police Department, DG Audit and Head of Polio Emergency Operation Center.
The meeting also directed the police department for availability of food and other facilities for police personnel guarding polio teams in different anti-polio campaigns across the province.
The forum asked the officials of the concerned departments to release withheld allowances of cops performed duties in anti-polio campaigns.
The chairperson of the committee maintained on the occasion that policemen have been facing numerous issues while performing their duties in special campaigns.
Nighat Yasmin Orakzai, while expressing regret on receiving the incomplete inquiry report related to the subject of discussion, issued orders to the officials to submit the required information and final report to the committee within one month.
The chair also issued instructions to brief the committee about the previous and current procedures related to the special allowances to the police personnel in the next meeting.
