COMSATS University Islamabad celebrates its Silver Jubilee in Islamabad

COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI) celebrated its Silver Jubilee, marking twenty-five years of service to higher education, research, and innovation. Mr. Khalid Hussain Magsi, Federal Minister for Science and Technology participated in the event as Chief Guest. The commemorative ceremony, held at the university’s main campus, brought together a distinguished gathering of officials of the Ministry of Science and Technology, academic leaders, and senior public-sector representatives.
The Minister highlighted that COMSATS University Islamabad has grown from a visionary idea into one of Pakistan’s most reputable higher education institutions, earning recognition for quality education, high-standard research, and strong international linkages.
He appreciated the leadership of Professor Dr. Raheel Qamar, stating that effective measures are being undertaken to enhance academic standards, strengthen research culture, and introduce administrative reforms. These efforts, he said, reflect a strong commitment to transforming COMSATS University into a distinguished research university at the regional and global levels.
Federal Minister Khalid Hussain Magsi paid special tribute to the faculty of COMSATS University, acknowledging their pivotal role in shaping the intellectual and moral foundations of students. He emphasized that teachers are the true strength of educational institutions and that the future of nations is built within universities through dedicated mentorship and scholarship.
Looking ahead, the Minister noted that modern research trends, artificial intelligence, and global collaboration will define the next phase of progress for the university. He called upon all stakeholders to embrace innovation and research excellence to meet future challenges.
The Minister extended heartfelt congratulations to the leadership, faculty, officers, staff, and students of COMSATS University Islamabad on achieving this historic milestone.
Ambassador Nafees Zakaria, Executive Director of the COMSATS Secretariat and Pro-Chancellor (II), reflected on the institution’s evolution from the COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT) to a comprehensive university of national importance. He noted that the university’s achievements represent a shared institutional success firmly rooted in its founding vision and urged the academic community to work collectively toward positioning COMSATS University Islamabad among the world’s top 200 universities by its Golden Jubilee.
In his address, the Rector, Prof. Dr. Raheel Qamar, T.I., described the Silver Jubilee as a moment of collective pride for the university’s faculty, staff, students, and alumni.
He highlighted CUI’s sustained academic growth and ongoing administrative reforms, reaffirming the institution’s commitment to innovation-driven education.
He further noted that the university’s curricula are now structured around the 6-C Framework—Coding, Cloud, Cybersecurity, Communication, Creativity, and Co-Intelligence—to equip graduates with future-ready skills for the global digital economy, while underscoring the importance of emerging research trends and artificial intelligence in shaping the future of higher education.
As part of the Silver Jubilee proceedings, shields were distributed among long-serving employees in recognition of their dedicated service to the institution over the past 25 years. The shield distribution ceremony was held on stage, with all Chief Guests participating, symbolizing collective appreciation for the commitment and contributions of the university’s human resource to its institutional growth and success.
Mr. Shahid Baloch, Federal Secretary, Ministry of Science and Technology graced the event as Guest of Honor. The ceremony concluded with a reaffirmation of the Ministry of Science and Technology’s continued support for COMSATS University Islamabad’s academic and research mission.
