In occupied Kashmir, Hurriyat leader, Javaid Ahmad Mir, has expressed concern over the plight of Kashmiri political detainees languishing in different jails of India and the territory.
According to Kashmir Media Service, delegations of detainees’ relatives met Javaid Ahmad Mir in Srinagar and apprised him of their grievances.
Talking to the delegations, he said the health of Hurriyat leaders, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, Aasiya Andrabi, Dr Muhammad Qasim Fakhtoo, Masarrat Aalam Butt, Altaf Ahmed Shah, Fehmeeda Sofi and Aadil Zargar has deteriorated in jails. He said an eye of the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik has also been affected in the jail. Javaid Ahmad Mir appealed to the world community and international human rights organizations to help settle the lingering Kashmir dispute according to the will of the Kashmiri people so that permanent peace could be established in the region.
