PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Pervez Khattak presided over a meeting of the select committee on Friday that cleared the draft-Conflict of Interest Bill to be tabled in the provincial assembly for enactment.INP reported.
According to an official handout, Senior Minister for Local Government Inayatullah Khan, Minister for Law Imtiaz Shahid Quershi, Minister for Public Health Engineering Shah Farman, Special Assistant to Chief Minister on Law Arif Yousaf, Parliamentary Secretary Dr. Haider Ali, Members Provincial Assembly Qalander Lodhi, Jehandad Khan, Mehmood Bhittani, Shaukat Yousfazai and others attended the meeting.
The meeting took for debate different sections and clauses of the proposed law designed for prevention of conflict of interest. The chief minister remarked that the basic philosophy behind the proposed legislation was to put some safeguards against the misuse of power and authority.
He said his government wanted absolute transparency in all public dealings. We have put on ground a system of governance where there is no space for any wrongdoings. The proposed bill, expected to be tabled in today’s session of the provincial assembly, will be a check on all influencing tactics previously used by the authority in power to protect own interest.
