Mardan, Peshawar, Swabi recorded 9.85pc, 13.79pc, and 11.19pc, virus positivity ratio respectively

The Coronavirus is spreading fast in major cities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) as the infectivity rate of the virus in Mardan, Peshawar and Swabi has reached 9.85pc, 13.79pc, and 11.19pc, respectively.
In light of rising virus positivity ratio, the provincial government has decided to impose a complete ban on indoor weddings and other celebration in cities or districts with a rate of more than 10pc with effect from January 24 to February 15.
According to a notification issued by KP Home & Tribal Affairs department only up to 300 full vaccinated persons will be allowed in outdoors events.
However, cities or districts where the infection rate is below 10pc will be allowed to have outdoor gatherings with maximum 500 guests.
It further said that only takeaways and home delivery will be permitted for 24 hours services in the cities with more than 10pc positivity rates. Following the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), the KP government has also revised Covid-19 protocols for mosques and other sacred places and announced that on 50pc fully vaccinated will be allowed to pray inside the places of worship.
The provincial Home & Tribal department has asked the district administration to ensure that only 70pc fully vaccinated people obtaining the service of public transport in most infected districts. It has been made mandatory for cinemas and other recreational spots such as water sports, swimming and parks to ensure that their participants are half and full vaccinated.
The provincial government completely banned Karate, boxing, rugby, martial arts, water polo, kabaddi and wrestling. No more than 50pc full vaccinated people are allowed in all types of indoor gyms, the notification said.
Moreover, the total number of positive active cases in KP has reached 2,786, according to the official figures released by the health department here on Saturday. Of the new positive cases recorded in the province, 25 were found in Mardan, 435 in Peshawar, and 16 in Swabi. The official figures say the infectivity rate was increasing in Abbottabad, Bannu, Gilgit, and Nowshera.
The Peshawar Institute of Cardiology (PIC) has limited Outpatients Departments (OPDs) due to increasing number of Covid-19 cases in the province. The PIC said that vaccination certificate would be mandatory for patient and attendant before admission, adding that no medical check up will be carried out at the institute without prior permission on phone from doctors.
Moreover, KP reported 590 new cases of coronavirus during the last 24 hours and five new fatalities.
With the new cases the number of total active cases surged to 2,786 in the province.
The province also reported 50 new recoveries, while a total 175,695 people have been recovered from the virus infection.
A total of 9572 tests were conducted during the same period of time in KP, additionally, the province count for total tests reached to 4046,452.
