Leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Monday reiterated their vow to conduct the fairest elections in the country within 90 days and said that any attempt by the opposition to influence the Supreme Court would be resisted.

Talking to the media, PTI leader Faisal Javed Khan said, “This election, that is going to be held within 90 days, will be the fairest election in the history of Pakistan as it will be conducted through electronic voting machines (EVMs).”

He added, “Now, the overseas Pakistanis will also be able to cast their
votes in the election from abroad. Earlier, they had to travel to
Pakistan to cast their votes, but now, they will be able to do that
through an online voting process.”

He alleged that both Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim
League-Nawaz (PML-N) wanted to get rid of the EVMs after the success of
the no-confidence motion. “But, their this conspiracy too has failed.”

He informed the media, “The President of Pakistan has written letters to
Prime Minister Imran Khan, who is set to be the former premier after a
few days, and to the opposition leader for sending names of the
candidates for caretaker prime minister.”

He added, “If names for the caretaker prime minister do not come from
the opposition leader, the parliamentary procedure will be carried out
accordingly.” He also said that the PTI was ready for general elections
as the potential candidates of the party had been ordered to prepare
themselves for elections.

He also vowed to give party tickets to the determined workers of the
party as “the PTI is going to become the original PTI”.

Also, former information and law minister Fawad Chaudhry castigated the
opposition leaders for, what he alleged, making attempts to influence
the Supreme Court and added: “Social media accounts being handled by
PML-N have also been involved in launching attacks on the Supreme
Court.”

He also hit out at the opposition leaders for, what he said, neglecting
the Apex Court’s orders of not resorting to any unconstitutional act in
the current circumstances.

“The opposition leaders should be ashamed of taking the name of the
Constitution as they have no respect for it,” he said and also accused
the united opposition of horse-trading and Constitution breaching.

He also criticised the opposition for running away from general
elections, and adding that any attempt to influence the Supreme Court
would be resisted.

“We haven’t revealed all the points of the ‘threat letter’ because it is
in the interest of the country as well as the opposition,” he said and
added that there was no escape for the opposition from elections that
were to be held within 90 days.

“We have sent a letter to the opposition leader requesting him to send a
name for caretaker prime minister. He does not want to become part of
it, the name suggested by the treasury benches will be finalised for the
caretaker prime minister as per the parliamentary proceedings,” he
stated.

Moreover, PTI leader Shahbaz Gill also vowed to move the Supreme Court
for investigations into the meetings of the opposition leaders with
foreign officials during the last year.

He said that the meetings of Nawaz Sharif, Shehbaz Sharif, Bilawal
Bhutto, Hamza Shehbaz, Maryam Nawaz, and Raja Riaz with the foreign
officials should be investigated.

“We are going to the people who are the absolute sovereign in Pakistan.
The people will use their right to vote and tell whether they want to
elect Imran Khan or the opposition leaders,” he said.

Gill also respectfully requested courts to announce reserved verdicts
against the corruption of the opposition leaders. “Does a common person
get this relief? If not, they also shouldn’t,” he stressed.

Furthermore, PTI leader Shahzad Akbar expressed his optimism that the
legal case of his party was strong and Imran Khan would emerge
victorious in the Supreme Court too. DNA
