KHYBER: Tensions escalated in Khyber district’s Tirah valley after a TikTok video triggered tribal anger, leading to both property destruction and killings, sources said on Tuesday. A tribal jirga of the Bar Qambarkhel clan earlier set four houses on fire in Haider Kando area, accusing residents of spreading obscenity through TikTok a d social media platforms. Just a day later, relatives killed a boy and a girl in the name of honour-killing after they were accused of recording the videos. The incidents have fueled fear in the locality, with residents voicing concerns over rising cases of social media–related disputes sparking violent tribal punishments.
