Toshakhana criminal proceedings case
ISLAMABAD
District and Sessions Court has once again accepted exemption from attendance plea of PTI chairman in Toshakhana criminal proceedings case.
Toshakhana criminal proceedings case came up for hearing before additional sessions judge Hummayun Dilawar Saturday.
Barrister Gohar counsel for chairman PTI and Amjid Pervez counsel for Election Commission (EC) appeared in the court.
Exemption from attendance plea was presented in the court in respect of chairman PTI.
Barrister Gohar said in his arguments it is requested to court to adjourn the hearing till Monday.
Raising objection over Chairman PTI exemption plea counsel for EC said no solid reasons have been mentioned in exemption plea. When trial is running then the accused should remain present. The court should give positive direction with reference to ensuring the presence of the accused.
He requested the court to issue order to file affidavit for ensuring presence of chairman PTI .
The court inquired will the accused appear in the court on Monday.
Barrister Gohar told the court chairman PTI will appear before Supreme Court (SC) on Monday in connection with case registered against him in Quetta.
The court remarked he should appear before this court after appearing in SC. There is nothing other than exemption from attendance pleas in case file. Today application is too to the extent of exemption. Objection is being raised from your side on the hearing running on day to day basis. Your exemption plea was accepted always. While the accused has not appeared once.
The court accepted exemption plea of chairman PTI besides directing chairman PTI to ensure his attendance after his appearance in the SC.
The court adjourned the hearing of the case till July 24.
