Court grants permanent exemption to PM from appearance in money laundering reference

LAHORE, OCT 04 (Online): Accountability Court (AC) Lahore has accepted Prime Minister (PM) Shahbaz Sharif plea for permanent exemption from appearance in the court in money laundering case.

The court while summoning NAB witnesses on next hearing adjourned the hearing of the case till October 25.

Judge Qamar ul Zaman of AC Lahore took up money laundering reference against PM Shahbaz Sharif and his son Hamza Shahbaz for hearing Tuesday.

Amjid Pervez, counsel for PM appeared in the court and filed the petition seeking exemption from appearance in respect of PM and Hamza Shahbaz.

He took the plea in the petition the PM cannot appear in the court in the wake of cabinet meeting. Hamza Shahbaz is suffering from backache and doctors have advised him to take rest. Therefore the plea for exemption from attendance be accepted.

During the hearing NAB filed reply on PM petition regarding permanent exemption.

The court accepted PM Shahbaz Sharif plea for permanent exemption from attendance.
The court also authorized him to appoint his representative for appearing in the court.

The court while summoning NAB witnesses for statements adjourned the proceedings on Money Laundering reference till October 25.
