PESHAWAR
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Peshawar, Shehzada Omar Abbas Babar has said that crackdown against tampered auto-rickshaw will continue without showing any leniency to anyone in this regard.
He was talking to a delegation of the Rickshaw Union which called on him under the leadership of their president, Amanullah Khan here on Friday.
During the meeting the delegation highlighted their hardships of rickshaw drivers due to ongoing crackdown against them.
The CTO termed the cooperation of Rickshaw Union inevitable for elimination of unregistered rickshaws from the city, saying the mushroom growth of illegal rickshaws is creating hurdles in the smooth flow of traffic.
He warned that those operating one to three rickshaws with the same number plates will face stern legal action and reiterate zero-tolerance for parking of rickshaws in the no-parking zones in various localities of the city.
He said that traffic police will utilize their all capabilities for ensuring the smooth flow of traffic and urged the office bearers of the union to persuade rickshaw drivers for not bringing unregistered auto-rickshaws on roads.
