Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Shehzad Khan Bangash has stressed upon all line departments to continue efforts for polio eradication to sustain the hard -earned gains made in the war against polio.
He stated this at a Provincial Task Force meeting on Polio here Tuesday at Cabinet Room of Civil Secretariat, Peshawar.
Additional IG Usman Anwar, Secretary Home, Khushal Khan, Secretary Finance Adeel Shah, Secretary Information, Arshad Khan, Secretary Health Tahir Orakzai, Secretary E & SE Motasim Billah Shah, Special Secretary Health Attaur Rehman, Commissioner Malakand Zaheer ul Islam, Commissioner Peshawar, Riaz Mehsood, Commissioner Mardan, Syed Jabbar Shah, Commissioner Bannu Shaukat Yousafzai, Commissioner D.I.Khan Amir Latif and Col Asjad from HQ 11 corps were also present on the occasion.
Responding on his statement, Shehzad Bangash underscored the need for improved coordination and directed all the line departments to bridge the coordination gaps and work dedicatedly for polio eradication and better health services in their respective districts.
He said that after a long-time tangible progress has been made in the war against polio with no case of Wild Polio Virus (WPV) in the province and negative environmental samples indicating that virus circulation has stopped in the high -risk districts of the province.
“It was due to tireless efforts of the frontline workers, guidance and ownership of the government that no wild polio virus case has been reported from the province for more than year now” he added.
However, he added that negligence will not be tolerated as it may lead us back to the outbreak situation and directed all the stakeholders to work with same dedication to help the country steer out of the menace for good.
The top provincial bureaucrat was also briefed on the upcoming outbreak response campaign planned in six districts of Bannu and D.I.Khan divisions from March 14 to March 18, 2022.

Earlier, Chief Secretary offered fatiha for the martyred cops in a road accident in Shangla after completing polio duty in Peshawar and paid glorious tributes to polio workers and police officials for their sacrifices and tireless efforts for the noble cause of polio eradication.
