CS-KP lauds top performance districts in review meeting

Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Shahab Ali Shah on Monday chaired the province’s weekly high-level review meeting to assess progress on service delivery and governance initiatives, formally acknowledging the outstanding performance of districts and departments.
The meeting highlighted improved district-level service delivery across the province. Deputy Commissioner Swabi, Nasrullah, was declared the top performer, followed by Deputy Commissioner Malakand, Fayaz Sherpao. Deputy Commissioner Lower Chitral, Rao Hashim, and Deputy Commissioner Lakki Marwat, Hameedullah, were also recognized for exemplary performance. The role of Elementary and Secondary Education Monitoring Authority Director General Sohail Khan in effective oversight was particularly appreciated.
The Chief Secretary commended secretaries leading reforms under the Good Governance Roadmap. Secretary Local Government Zafar ul Islam, Secretary Elementary and Secondary Education Muhammad Khalid, Secretary Tourism Saadat Hasan, and Secretary Agriculture Amber Ali Khan were lauded for high achievements and will receive certificates, with top performers awarded honoraria.
The meeting reviewed other governance initiatives, including 24 anti-encroachment operations conducted last week. Efforts to desilt drains and waterways and control food prices were highlighted, and Deputy Commissioners were instructed to ensure timely availability of essential commodities ahead of Ramadan.
Officials reported that the province’s polio vaccination campaign has been successfully completed. Progress on outsourcing initiatives was also discussed, with 500 public sector schools ready for contract signing by February 15 and 34 of 72 hospitals prepared for outsourcing by February 26.
The Peshawar Bus Terminal project, nearing completion, was also briefed to the Chief Secretary and is expected to ease traffic congestion in the provincial capital. Under the provincial cashless action plan, 73 of 84 public services targeted for digitization in February have been completed. Measures to improve sanitation in tourist areas, including sewerage and cleanliness for 478 hotels and restaurants, were also reviewed.
The Chief Secretary emphasized the need to sustain reform momentum, urging all departments and district administrations to continue focusing on improved service delivery, transparency, and citizen-centric governance.
