The Mardan Region Anti-Terrorism Department, in a successful operation on a tip-off, arrested the accused Anwar Khan alias Bacha son of Syed Anwar, a resident of Bajaur Hal Bhutto Kalay Tangi Charsadda.
According to SP CTD Fazal Wahid, the arrested accused was wanted by CTD Mardan Region Police Station in 13 different cases. They were arrested by CTD Mardan Region expert raid team from Shabqadar Bazaar, Charsadda.
A case was registered against the accused under the Anti-Terrorism Act after a hand grenade, a 30-bore pistol and 21 rounds of ammunition were recovered from his possession. During the interrogation, the accused confessed to the crime and revealed that he had hidden explosives and weapons for terrorism in Akhon Baba Mardan cemetery along with 07 other terrorists whose names have been kept secret.
Upon identification of the accused, the investigating staff along with BDS personnel recovered a 14.05 bore gun with butt loaded in a plastic wrapped bundle from Akhon Baba Mardan Cemetery, 10 cartridges, gun body, barrel, 14.05 bore two belt cartridges, alive.
The consignment recovered 150 pieces, 02 Patty cartridges 12.07 Borkel 80 pieces, 05 RPG-7 shells, a live gun HMG and 10 kg ammunition. Further revelations are also expected from the accused.
