Traders and custom agents on Friday held protest at the Torkham border and chanted slogans for their rights.
The protest was led by Mirajuddin Shinwari, Chairman of the All Torkham Customs Clearing Agents Association. They were holding black flags and baner inscribed with demands to relax border conditions for traders and transporters. They demanded immediate action to resolve the ongoing issues faced by traders, customs agents and transporters.
A significant number of participants, including customs agents, traders, and transporters gathered at Nadra Chowk in Torkham where they chanted slongs against the hard and fast conditions placed for traders and transporters. Mirajuddin Shinwari said due unnecessary steps taken by border authorities have further increased difficulties impeding cross-border trade between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Torkham custom agents association president Mujeeb Khan Shinwari highlighted the severe challenges faced by the business community at the Torkham border. He called on the authorities to provide necessary facilities to exporters, importers and transporters to enhance bilateral trade. He urged the government to create business opportunities for the public and take immediate steps to eliminate the hurdles obstructing Pak-Afghan trade.
The protestors demanded swift action from the government, emphasizing that resolving these issues were crucial for the economic stability and growth of the region.
