PESHAWAR
The Dairy and Cattle Farmers Association of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa rejected the Peshawar administration’s decision to reduce the official milk price by Rs 20 in the name of Ramadan relief, calling it an “economic murder” of farmers.
The association’s President, Major (retd) Azhar Ali Khan, and General Secretary Muhammad Haris Khan, condemned the decision, stating that it’s unfair and cruel, especially when prices of commodities used in milk production were increasing.
The association demanded that the government and administration review the price decision and restore the milk price to a realistic level in consultation with farmers.
They argue that farmers were not receiving any subsidies from the government, while prices of electricity, petrol, and gas continue to rise.
They highlighted the challenges faced by dairy farmers in KP, who claimed that they were struggling to make ends meet due to increasing costs and decreasing milk prices.
