Islamabad : The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Tuesday rejected Fazal Mukhtar’s petition regarding payment of his pension.
Fazal was an employee of KPK’s forest department.
During the hearing, lawyer to the petitioner gave arguments that Fazal Mukhtar was enlisted as forest guard in 1989 and was suspended in 1994. Fresh appointment was made immediately. Now Fazal’s four year service was not counted during the payment of pension, the lawyer maintained.
Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Gulzar Ahmad asked Additional Advocate General KPK Qasim Wadood that whether the province’s govt institutions are unable to pay salaries and pensions. KPK’s institutions have been filled by appointing people for jobs. Now the govt is taking loans from IMF and World Bank to pay salaries. This is a dangerous way, the Chief Justice maintained.
Justice Mazahir Ali Akbar Naqvi gave his remarks that Smuggling is the biggest cause of KPK govt’s deficits. KPK govt will have to eradicate smuggling in order to boost industry.
Additional Advocate General KPK Qasim Wadood maintained that provincial govt cannot attain loans directly from IMF and World Bank.
The Supreme Court dismissed Fazal Mukhtar’s petition later.
