DC Charsadda Ramadan Sports Festival kicks off

Deputy Commissioner Charsadda Ramadan Sports Festival kicked off at Abdul Wali Khan Sports Complex, Charsadda with more than 500 players from across the district participating in six different games at the festival.
Deputy Commissioner Charsadda Saadat Hussain was the chief guest on this occasion who formally inaugurated the Ramadan Sports Festival wherein more than 500 athletes from across Charsadda district are enthusiastically participating.
The picturesque Abdul Wali Khan Sports Complex is fully equipped with floodlight facilities at all venues either these are facilities of football, hockey, basketball, volleyball, fully international standard five badminton courts, a table tennis hall, recently inaugurated Astro-Turf, a jogging athletic track, swimming pool and many more Games facilities like Tennis courts, netball, futsal, squash courts, indoor gymnasium, more than 250 players accommodation as well.
Cutting the tape, Deputy Commissioner Sadaat Hassan expressed his satisfaction over the overall arrangements being made for the players at their respective venues. He also appreciated District Sports Officer Tehseenullah, who so far organized 179 sporting events during the current fiscal year.
Football coach Gul Rahim, Administrator of the Abdul Wali Khan Sports Complex Imran Khan, AD Youth Amir Khan and other important personalities were also present on the occasion.
Football, badminton, volleyball, hockey, basketball and carrom board competitions are part of the Ramadan Sports Festival this year wherein great enthusiasm witnessed among more than 500 players during the colourful opening ceremony.
It is worth noting here that 17 teams in football, 16 in volleyball, 6 in hockey, 14 in basketball, 120 players in badminton and 40 players in carrom board are taking part. On the first day, a football match was played between the teams of Utmanzai and Trangzai in which both the teams played their best and the match ended in a goalless draw. To decide the fate of the opening match, also witnessed by Deputy Commissioner Charsadda Sadaat Hassan, both the teams were awarded five penalty kicks each on which Utmanzai won the match by 5-4.
Deputy Commissioner Charsadda Saadat Hussaini addressing the inauguration ceremony, said that sports is very important for the youth as sports is the best source for mental and physical development and that is why the provincial government has paid special attention to sports activities.
The district administration will extend full cooperation for maintaining a healthy environment for the youth as well as opportunities for them to hone their skills.
Finally, he paid tribute to the District Sports Officer for organizing the Ramadan Sports Festival like every year. Expressing appreciation, he assured full cooperation in such sports activities in future as well and urged upon the players to actively participate in sports activities.
Earlier, the opening ceremony started with the recitation from the Holy Quran by Qari Saad, followed by the National Anthem and March Past of the Teams. Former national athletes Kabir Jan and Zia Jan, officials of the veteran cricket team were also present.
