Deadline for illegal Afghan families expires on 31 October

Hundreds of illegal Afghan families residing in various cities of the country approached the entry point, Landi Kotal on Tuesday,the last day to go to their country before expiring of deadline on 31 October, 2023.
It is to be mentioned here that keeping in view the security threats and related problems, the government in a high-level meeting of the National Security Committee, chaired by Prime Minister Anwar-ul-Haq held in Islamabad had decided under the National Action Plan to repatriate all illegal foreign residents. A month deadline was given for their willing return and after it they would be forcibly expel of the country.
According to the official sources on Monday 487 Afghan families, comprising 11553 persons (male-female and children) crossed the Torkham border to Afghanistan. Since 17 September, 2023, approximately 82500 Afghan citizens returned back to their country, sources informed.
On the other hand, arrangements have been finalized at the entry point, Charwazgai, Landi Kotal to facilitate repatriated Afghan families.
Twelve National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) mobile vans have been supplied for speedy registration of the Afghanis besides a medical team has been deployed at the point to treat the ailing persons. In addition with Rescue 1122 officials have also kicked off their relief activities and as per reports so far more than hundred ailing Afghan nationals have been shifted to nearest health center after providing first aid to them.
Deputy Commissioner, Khyber Abdunasir paid a visit to the entry point and observed the preparations set up for the repatriated Afghan families. He urged the officials to leave no stone unturned to facilitate the home return families.
Caretaker Interior Federal Minister Sarfraz Bugti has warned that upon the expiration of the deadline, illegal foreign immigrants would be detained, dispossessed of their properties in Pakistan and would be forcibly expelled from the country.
