PESHAWAR: Prime Minister Imran Khan’s Sehat Card Plus launching ceremony on Friday brought thousands of people out of their homes across Malakand division raised the fear of new coronavirus outbreaks. Despite the provincial and federal government warning that the crowds could cause a surge in the Covid-19 cases across the country, the event held under the supervision of the provincial government at the home town of Chief Minister Mehmood Khan. According to reports thousands of people were allowed without any restrictions and SOPs awareness from the concern district local administration. According to local administration of the district that political leaders and MAPs of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) did not allowed them to urged the people, who intended to attend the PM Khan,s Sehat card inaugural ceremony, to wear face masks and maintain social distancing, both to protect themselves and to prevent further community spread of the virus. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) so far, more than 1,287 people have already died of Covid-19, the disease caused the infection to more than 40,148. Javed Khan
The provincial government on the basis of reported cases and rates of hospitalization and deaths had already declared the district, where the event held, among the red zone for Covid-19 spread. Additionally, the provincial health department mulling over the strategy of micro, smart, and in some areas a complete lockdown to deal with the second wave of the pandemic. During the last two days, the number of positive cases has surged to more than 100 cases, officials of the health department said that the World Health Organisation (WHO) recommended lockdown.
Last week the provincial government had spotted seven districts including Swat, Bunner, Mansehra, Hazara, Peshawar, Mardan, and Abbottabad as hotspots for coronavirus.
The people, according to the sources, in dozen areas of Malakand division, have been mobilized and arrangement for their transportation had been made by the ruling party members for the sole purpose to join and welcome Premier on the occasion of his arrival to Swat.
