A delegation of Punjab Local Government Academy Lala Musa visited Mardan here on Friday and met with Chief Executive Officer Water and Sanitation Services Company Mardan (WSSM) Engineer Amir Khan at his office.
On this occasion, Engineer Amir Khan briefed the delegation on WSSCM operations and conversion of organic waste into organic fertilizers.
They were also briefed on innovative techniques used in sanitation sector in the city.
Amir Khan informed that within the limited resources we are providing the best facilities to the citizens in terms of cleanliness.
Our mission is to make Mardan a model city in terms of cleanliness and we are using all our resources to complete this mission.
He highlighted that the company has formulated an integrated strategy to make Mardan city clean and One hundred Eighty tons of waste is safely disposed off.
CEO WSSCM said that integrated Resource Recovery Center is the only established center in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with the technical support of Akhtar Hameed Khan Memorial Trust and Financial support of Norwegian Church Aid.
This is a multi-Purpose facility which will contribute towards clean and green environment, promote organic farming in the province and will also put a positive impact in employment generation in this particular field as the slogan of the project is “Trash is Cash”.
Under the IRRC system five tons of kitchen waste is converted into organic fertilizers on a daily basis, he added.
He said that WSSCM declared the best company in solid waste management in the year of 2021 across the province and awarded by Right to Services Commission Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
While appreciating the performance of WSSCM Director Punjab Local Government Academy Lala Musa Najeeb Aslam said that IRRC is an excellent system to decrease environmental pollution.
He said that they would also take full advantage in research and technical fields of WSSCM’s IRRC facility. He also appreciated the efforts of Chief Executive Officer Engineer Amir Khan and his team.
Punjab Local Government Academy Assistant Director Tahseen Ahmed, Municipal Officers Muhammad Tayyab Maqsood, Ali Imran Khan, Shah Rukh Tariq, Muhammad Ahmad and others thanked the entire team of WSSC Mardan and said that they will benefit from their experiences in the future.
General Manager WSSCM Engineer Muhammad Khalil Akbar, Manager HR and Administration Imran Afridi, Manager Planning and Projects Imran Zaman and others were also present on this occasion.
