PESHAWAR
Muhammad Faiq Shah, founder and chairman of the Amun Taraqqi Party said democracy is the only viable option which can lead Pakistan toward sustainable economic and political stability and overcome social evils.
Opposing the passage of resolution in the Senate, which had sought delay in general elections 2024 due to security concerns, Shah made it clear that any attempt to hamper flourishing democracy and democratic culture would bring further damages for the country.
The ATP chairman while addressing a public gathering here on Saturday emphasized the imperative need for transparent elections to pull the country out of its current challenges.
He highlighted that the neglect of the masses over the past seven decades by former ruling parties has led the country into a complex situation.
Underlining the significance of strengthening democracy, Faiq asserted, “We will have to uphold democracy in the country instead of promoting dynastic politics.”
He pledged to make the country robust enough to face international challenges.
The ATP chief also expressed disdain for those who yielded to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), stating that they would face defeat on February 8.
Shah asserted that the masses would no longer accept the hegemony of specific groups, political parties and opportunists, expressing confidence that voters would rid the nation of what he described as inept political leadership in the upcoming elections. The party leader sought action against those who use the name of religion for fake politics.
Faiq described ethics, positive/legitimate criticism and commendation as the beauty of democracy.
However, he said a bulk of lies have piled up in the country, stating that difference between words and deeds has become routine in fostering falsehood.
The ATP chief asked ticket holders that they should give fundamental importance to public authority and justice, it is our politics and it is also the party’s ideology.
In this time testing situation, he said ATP stands at the path of rightfulness and truthfulness, vowing that to ensure public authority and justice and all basic facilities to people at their doorstep.
