Five days long deworming campaign was kicked off in Landi Kotal last day.
Assistant Commissioner, Landi Kotal Afraseyab Zubair fed the deworming tablets to the students of Federal Government Public School to formally open the drive.
Officials said that teachers of schools and seminaries of all tehsils of the district would take part in the Mass Drug Administration Deworming Programme launched from Dec 8 to 12.
They said the drive will cover all public and private educational institutions and religious seminaries.
Children aging from five to 14 years old will be administered chewable deworming tablets, officials said.
The campaign was meant to treat the children of intestinal worm infection and to improve their overall health. Mental and physical development and academic performance.
The officials said every student will get deworming tablets which had already been supplied to the trained ones. They urged the prayer leaders and media to play their active role in encouraging community participation and addressing any parental hesitation.
Meanwhile the health officials urged the parents to cooperate with schools to ensure their children benefited from the programme.
